### Why We Produced This Piece: Love, Grace, and Unbroken Connection

We produced this video because we were deeply moved by the friendship displayed during a deeply emotional panel at the National Action Network Convention. Sitting on that stage, Salaam and Wise didn't just talk about the past; they demonstrated a living testament to what it means to protect one another's humanity. We saw love, grace, and an unbreakable bond that has linked them together for life.

### The Mugshot Policy

**We do not publish mugshots, booking photos, or mugshot-style imagery—especially of children and youth.** The carceral system routinely uses booking photos to criminalize Black people, strip away their dignity, and define them by legal status long before trial.

- **The Historical Exception:** In rare archival or documentary reflections (such as the Central Park Five case), historical booking images are referenced or handled with extreme care *only* to juxtapose the adult someone became against the child they were—reiterating how the carceral system routinely treats Black youth as adults. As well as to honor that children exist in the future as adults and Black children deserve to exist in the future as adults, so many Black boys never made it to adulthood from chattel slavery to Emmet Till to Mike Brown to Jor’Dell Richardson to Trayvon Martin and the list is heart breaking and never ending.
- Outside of deliberate, restorative historical framing, mugshots have no place in our storytelling.
