Africa is often boxed into images of safaris or struggle. But through Socafari’s immersive journey across Kenya and Tanzania, we experienced a different narrative — one rooted in Black joy, culture, and connection. Guided by the rhythm of soca music and the spirit of discovery, we explored the beauty of the Maasai Mara, danced on pristine sand dunes, and embraced the richness of cultures that mirrored pieces of ourselves. For founder Monifa Wilson Charles, this journey was a calling — a vision sparked by solo travels and answered by bringing others along to witness the magic firsthand. This is more than a trip. It’s a reclaiming, a reimagining, and a long-overdue return to a part of ourselves we didn’t even realize we were missing. And it’s only the beginning.
