Neighbors Gather on Clinton Avenue to Celebrate History, Music, and Community

On September 17, the Clinton Hill Community Action (CHCA) group turned the sound stage along Clinton Avenue into a open-air lawn, welcoming residents across Newark for an evening of live jazz, shared meals, and dancing under the stars.

The special Artsxchange event served a simple yet vital purpose: to connect residents directly with local musicians and celebrate the neighborhood's deep cultural history. Dressed in elegant white attire, neighbors filled the space with warmth and laughter, gathering around elaborate tablescapes and photo ops thoughtfully designed by residents themselves.

Acclaimed jazz vocalist and Newark native Antoinette Montague took the stage, delivering a soulful performance that brought attendees to their feet.
